Gorilla, Monkey & Soccer Cake

This cake was for a cute couple that celebrated their birthdays together.  Combined their love for soccer, gorillas and monkeys and designed this cake for them.

The cake is a moist vanilla sponge cake w/ vanilla buttercream and it is filled w/ fresh strawberries.  The cake is covered in fondant.

Closer look at the gorilla and the monkey. :)  They're both made out of fondant.  It was my first try making animals out of fondant, but I think they came out pretty good.

Florida Gators Cake

This birthday cake was for a Florida Gators fanatic!

Dark chocolate cake w/ creamy peanut butter buttercream.  The Gator head is made out of Rice Krispies treats.  Cake is covered with fondant.

Cakes!

Like many others, I was inspired to start baking from watching cooking shows on the Food Network and baking shows like Ace of Cakes and the Cake Boss.  2 years ago, for one of my friends birthday, I finally decided to give cake decorating a try.  To my surprise, my first fondant cake was a success!  I enjoyed it so much that I continued baking and discovered that I was pretty good at it. :)  I teamed up with a good friend of mine (who also loved to bake) and over the course of 2 years, we've created over 100 beautiful cakes for our family and friends.

Over the years, I've gained some experience and skills, but by no means do I consider myself a "pro."  I'm definitely still a beginner and I look forward to gaining more skills as I continue to bake independently.  I look forward to making more sweet creations and seeing the joy and excitement it brings people as they see the cake for the first time.
