Under the Sea Baby Shower Cake

This Under the Sea themed cake was especially made for my friends' baby shower.  It is decorated with adorable sea creatures, corals, shells, and sand.  I truly enjoyed designing and making this cake for them.  The parents to be and the guests absolutely loved the cake!

The cake is covered with light blue fondant.  When I was coloring the light blue fondant, I added in a bit of turquoise color to give it that water/swirled effect.  The shark and the dolphin are hand made out of gum paste.  I used fondant to make the rest: the sea turtle, fishes, starfishes, corals, shells, etc.  The sand is made out of crushed cookies.  Graham crackers works real well but I used Maria cookies instead (by Iberia).
Here's the another view of the cake.

The cake flavor is dark chocolate cake w/ creamy peanut butter buttercream.  You can't go wrong with that flavor combination.  The cake was moist and delicious.  It was a hit!

A closer look at the shark, sea turtle, fishes, crab, and dolphin.

  1. That baby shower cake is too adorable to handle. I just love cakes and always make sure that I get perfect party cake as per occasion. I also had my sister’s baby shower at best LA venue and first thing I did was to arrange a nice cake.
